Delta Aims to Lure Discount Travelers With Its Basic Economy Fare

Delta Air Lines is aiming to lure in travelers looking for a deal by bringing back its Basic Economy fare, with some new changes. Flying Basic Economy on Delta means nonrefundable, unchangeable tickets, no advance seat assignments and boarding the plane last, with last access to overhead bin space. But, as Delta says, 'If you're looking for a low fare, your travel plans aren't likely to change, and you don't mind where you sit, Basic Economy just may be your ticket.' Deutsche Bank analyst Michael Linenberg said in a note, 'The company's impressive financial performance and well-laid out plan to further improve shareholder returns give us confidence in its ability to continue delivering strong, sustainable fundamentals, which should ultimately be embraced by the market over the long-term.'
