Amazon (AMZN - Get Report) has disrupted the food industry just like it has every other industry and Del Monte Foods CEO Greg Longstreet is positioning his company to take advantage of the changing trends with the company's next generation of packaged food products.
"Consumers food decisions have changed remarkably in the last decade. Consumers aren't sitting down for three meals like they used to. They're looking for smaller meals, snack and more frequent meals," Longstreet told TheStreet.
To get with the changing times, Del Monte unveiled seven new products in New York on Thursday, including the company's first frozen product offering.
"Obviously Amazon is having an impact on all consumers. Our role within that is to provide products that are approachable to today's consumer who is ordering through Amazon, Walmart.com and our retail partners. Our new products are meeting that need," Longstreet said.
