Tesla shares have taken a beating over the last three months, and it coincides with U.S. automakers' posting better-than-expected SUV sales. With oil getting hit and gas prices falling, electric car maker Tesla has had a tough three months, although, the volatile stock is up on a big year so far. Elon Musk is taking his campaign to sell cars direct, to Texas next, as Tesla looks to take on regulators similar to fights other startups, like Airbnb and Uber, face with local commissions. Perhaps it's not the local pols, or oil: Musk's biggest trouble could be earnings, which Tesla has missed twice in three quarters.
