It is thought that nearly 79 million U.S. households currently have an Amazon Prime membership, an increase of 13 million since the end of 2016. Those figures compare to 90 million that have cable TV subscriptions. At the current rate of growth, Amazon would become more popular than cable subscribers as soon as next year.
