Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis says his top priority, since taking office a little more than a month ago, is reassuring American businesses that his country is committed to trying to attract more foreign direct investment. Solis says in the past few days Intel (INTC) and VMware (VMW) have both committed to adding hundreds of new jobs in Costa Rica. Solis says Intel, which cut more than a thousand jobs a few months ago at its computer chip manufacturing facility, would be opening a research and development operation and hiring more people. Right now, there are 250 multinationals with operations in Costa Rica and Solis says he hopes to attract more companies in the life sciences, services and basic manufacturing sectors. TheStreet's Ruben Ramirez reports from New York.
