U.S. customers would benefit from increased carrier competition in certain areas of the country, said Bas Burger, Americas President for BT. Burger added that Google's dark fiber plans are more of a threat to domestic carriers because BT focuses on business customers rather than directly to consumers. He said video conferencing is a big push for BT because of its global network and the increasing demand for international businesses to connect abroad and save on travel expenses. Finally, he said BT does not have a mobile presence in the U.S., however, it is helping customers connect with the new Apple iPhone's features through its business services.
