Here’s How Corporate America Is Battling the Coronavirus Threat

U.S. companies are sending memos to employees and cancelling events in response to growing coronavirus fears.

Here are some of the companies making changes:

Twitter  (TWTR) - Get Twitter Inc. Report is encouraging all employees globally to work from home if they can.

Google  (GOOGL) - Get Alphabet Inc. Report has cancelled its biggest event of the year, Google I/O, citing the coronavirus fears.

Facebook, Twitter, Apple, Netflix, and TikTok have all announced they are no longer attending South by Southwest’s annual March event.

Facebook is discouraging meetings over 50 people large and conducting its job interviews as video conferences when possible.

Amazon  (AMZN) - Get Inc. Report has told its close to 800,000 workers to avoid “non-essential travel.”

Companies are offering employees the following tips:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
