The economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic continues, as more companies are reported to be on the verge of filing for bankruptcy or have already filed.

It's been reported that JCPenney  (JCP) - Get Report is on the verge of filing for bankruptcy as it struggles to keep its business afloat. 

In addition to this, companies such as Best Buy  (BBY) - Get Report, Lowe's, Kroger  (KR) - Get Report , AMC Theatres, and Nordstrom  (JWN) - Get Report are making headlines as they too might soon be joining the bankruptcy bandwagon.

For some companies, there was no option other than to file for bankruptcy, as economic pressure triggered by the pandemic weighed heavily on their bottom lines.

As demand for oil is decreasing, energy companies like Whiting Petroleum Corporation  (WLL) - Get Report and Echo Energy Partners I have filed for bankruptcy.
