Comcast is striving to save its merger with Time Warner Cable (TWC). Executives from both companies are slated to sit down with Department of Justice Officials this week about their $45 billion dollar deal. The parties haven't met face to face with Justice Department officials in the more than 14 months since the potential merger was announced. The Wall Street Journal says staffers at both the Justice Department and the Federal Communications Commission remain concerned a combined company would wield too much power in the broadband internet market. It would also, they say, give the company an unfair advantage in negotiating with TV channels.
