Comcast, Time Warner Hit After Obama's Net Neutrality Push
Mild gains lifted the Dow Industrials and the S&P 500 to new highs in Monday's midday trading. All the major markets were modestly higher and trading in the green. Cable Internet providers are all slipping after President Obama called for the FCC to push for the 'strongest possible rules' to protect net neutrality. Shares of Comcast (CMCSA), Time Warner Cable (TWC) and Charter Communications (CHTR) are dropping about 3%. Dean Foods (DF) is soaring close to 14% higher after beating its forecasts. Shares of Toll Brothers (TOL) are climbing after saying it expects to report a 29% increase in quarterly sales, beating analysts' estimates. Despite missing its earnings forecasts and losing more than expected, Sotheby's (BID) is gaining in the session. The auction house said its quarterly loss narrowed from last year and its sales topped expectations.
