While President Obama's call for the FCC to enforce net neutrality rules has been applauded by some, including companies like Netflix, the idea faces strong opposition -- and challenges. Charter Communications says the reclassification of broadband as a Title II service under the Telecommunications Act poses a risk to investment in broadband infrastructure. Verizon, which has successfully sued the FCC over its Open Internet Rule, says the legal system also poses a challenge to net neutrality. Comcast executive vice president David Cohen cited the Supreme Court's previous findings that the current classification is proper, and called upon the federal government beyond the president. He said, 'Such a radical reversal of consistent contrary precedent should be taken up by the Congress.'
