Coca Cola Teams Up With Scientists to Shift the Blame for Obesity
Coca Cola (KO) is enlisting new recruits to help wage war on obesity, while still keeping fizzy drink sales up. The beverage giant has teamed up with influential scientists in an attempt to shift people's attention away from calorie cutting, and focus on exercise to combat weight gain. Coke is providing substantial financial support to help stem the backlash against soda via a non profit organization called Global Energy Balance Network. The beverage giant has been attempting to diversify its product line as its namesake product is increasingly vilified by health experts. Reuters reported that Coke is in talks to buy a minority stake in U.S. organic juice company Suja Life. Coke's investment would push the cold press juice maker's valuation to around $330 million, according to the latest reports.
