Closing Bell: Tesla Recalls 2,700 Model X Vehicles; U.S. Stocks Slip
A gloomy forecast for the earnings season kept any Wall Street bulls in check. Stocks began the day with a rally but fell into the red in the final hour of trading. Crude oil boosted the energy sector after closing at its highest level in nearly three weeks. Tesla (TSLA) - Get Report announced a voluntary recall of 2,700 Model X vehicles built before March 26 at its California factory. The company said the backseat could collapse in an accident, though knows of no such real-life incidents. Goldman Sachs (GS) - Get Report agreed to pay just over $5 billion to settle an investigation into the sale of its mortgage-backed securities before the 2008 recession. Chesapeake Energy (CHK) - Get Report jumped after amending some of the terms of its credit facility agreement with lenders. TheStreet's Keris Lahiff has details from Wall Street.
