Closing Bell: Sprint Spikes on Investment Talk; Dow, S&P 500 at Records
It was a solid end to the week with the Dow notching a record close for its third day in a row and the S&P 500 ending at all-time highs itself. Markets largely overlooked a weak start to the earnings season this morning. Crude oil prices held higher after weekly drilling activity data Friday afternoon. The count of active oil rigs rose by two, according to Baker Hughes. The number of active oil rigs has more than doubled from the same time a year earlier. Ulta Beauty (ULTA) - Get Report moved higher after being upgraded to BUY from NEUTRAL at Goldman Sachs. Analysts are confident shares will come back after a recent selloff. Sprint (S) - Get Report spiked on reports the company is courting an investment. Billionaire investor Warren Buffett and media mogul John Malone reportedly met with Sprint's chairman to discuss an investment in the telecom.
