Closing Bell: Ford Announces Recall Over Seatbelt Issue; Dow Retreats From Records
The Dow retreated from records as banks reversed course after days of big gains. Dow components Goldman Sachs (GS) - Get Report and JPMorgan (JPM) - Get Report ended the day lower alongside fellow banks Citigroup (C) - Get Report and Bank of America (BAC) - Get Report . Crude oil ended with a weekly gain of 12% thanks to the OPEC deal secured earlier in the week. In domestic news, the number of active oil rigs in the U.S. rose by 3 to 477. And Ford (F) - Get Report fell after announcing a recall of 680,000 vehicles to correct a seatbelt issue. The bulk of the recall will affect vehicles sold in the U.S., including the Ford Fusion. Big Lots (BIG) - Get Report was active after raising its anticipated full-year earnings forecast. The discount retailer kept its same-store sales target of 1% to 2% growth unchanged.
