Closing Bell: Chipotle Slumps on More Food Safety Issues; S&P 500 and Nasdaq at Records
Wall Street was split in two directions for most of the day. A selloff in Goldman Sachs (GS) - Get Report dragged the Dow into negative territory, while tech pulled the Nasdaq to record highs. The S&P 500 also scored a record with gains of just a point. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) - Get Report declined following a downgrade to UNDERWEIGHT from Barclays. Analysts said the valuation was pricing in a high degree of success but that there is little evidence of share gains. Chipotle (CMG) - Get Report tumbled after closing a restaurant in Sterling, Virginia after multiple reports of customers falling ill. The burrito chain endured a rough number of months after an E. coli outbreak in late 2015. Harley-Davidson (HOG) - Get Report sold off after reducing guidance for the year. The company said a lowered outlook was tied to challenges in the U.S. market. The motorcycle company expects full-year shipments to drop between 6% to 7%.
