Closing Bell: Bill O'Reilly Out at Fox; S&P 500, Dow End at Session Lows
Stocks ended at session lows as an earnings disappointment from IBM (IBM) - Get Report weighed on the Dow Jones Industrial Average and a crude selloff pressured the energy sector. Energy shares were the worst performers on markets. Growth in the Federal Reserve's 12 districts ranged from "modest" to "moderate" over its recent six-week period, according to the latest "Beige Book." The anecdotal reading on conditions in the Fed's districts found a tightening labor market and rising wages. Rite Aid (RAD) - Get Report tumbled this afternoon on reports the Federal Trade Commission is considering filing a lawsuit to block its acquisition by Walgreens (WBA) - Get Report . The deal deadline has been extended until the end of July. 21st Century Fox (FOXA) - Get Report has confirmed that Bill O'Reilly will not return to the Fox News Channel. The media company said it had reached the decision after reviewing sexual harassment allegations against the media personality.
