Shares of Cigna (CI) - Get Report and fellow health insurer Anthem (ANTM) - Get Report were each up Friday after the U.S. Justice Department appeared to be willing to listen to settlement offers surrounding Anthem's $48 billion bid to acquire Cigna. As you may recall, the Justice Department sued to block the deal last month. DOJ lawyer Jon Jacobs said at a Friday hearing in Washington that the regulatory agency is 'willing to hear any proposals that the defendants have,' sending shares of Cigna and Anthem higher. Cigna shares have fallen sharply on the year, especially after antitrust regulators stepped on the proposed tie-up.
