China is set to introduce tighter controls on the amount of foreign TV content available on Chinese video-streaming services. The new restrictions would cap foreign shows at no more than 30% of sites' libraries, such as those operated by Sohu.com. The State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China has been trying to curb reliance on imported entertainment as means to stimulate local production and prevent too much Western cultural influence. A report from the body notes more than half of TV titles available on domestic streaming services are foreign-made.
