China's Communist Party Congress & U.S. Earnings - This Is What You Need to Know
This is what you need to know on Wednesday:
1. European stocks open higher Wednesday with investors focused on political developments in Asia and currency markets in the United Kingdom.
2. China's 19th Communist Party Congress kicked off with a 3 and a half hour speech from President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
3. Britain's Office for National Statistics will publish wage growth data at 09:30 London time after revealing yesterday that consumer prices rose at a 3% clip last month
4. Early indications from U.S. equity futures are also looking robust, after yesterday's record high closing levels, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average likely to smash through the 23,000-point barrier at the opening bell and the S&P 500 looking a more modest 0.03% gain at the start of trading.
5. Key earnings expected during the day include Abbott Laboratories, US Bancorp, Alcoa and American Express.
