China and U.S. Join Forces to Reduce Emissions and Climate Change
China and the United states are pledging to get serious on climate change. The world's two largest polluters are planning to take joint action on reducing harmful emissions blamed for global warming. The countries' leaders are working to finalize a global climate treaty next year and push other nations take equally aggressive action. The U.S announced it will reduce greenhouse reduce greenhouse emissions 26-28% by 2025. Obama also plans to double the rate at which the U.S. is reducing emissions per year. China has pledged to prevent any further increase in its carbon dioxide emissions by 2030. In addition it hopes to source about 20% of its energy from clean sources like wind and solar by 2030. The ground breaking climate talks took place in Beijing this week at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
