With cbdMD (YCBD) set to report its first earnings since its rebrand, we're rewinding to when we sat down down with CEO Martin Sumichrast.

cbdMD is the first CBD company to list on a U.S. stock exchange. The company changed its ticker from "LEVB" to "YCBD."

Sumichrast talked to TheStreet about his company's plan to pivot from Level Brands to cbdMD and why the company teamed up with athletes such as Bubba Watson, pro-golfer.

When asked why he decided to partner with cbdMD, Watson answered:

"Yeah, it's wild. It's one of those things that happened quickly. I was taking the product, I love the product and for me, you know, it's all about safety. So, for me, on a performance level, I got to have safety, I've got to [take] drug tests, I've got to do all these things and to protect myself and be able to play competitive golf. And so for me, with the name change, [putting] it on the stock exchange, it's, it was a no-brainer for me," said Watson. "It was something I was already using. And when they said, hey, let's go up there together and let's announce this brand together. And so for me it was a no-brainer. It was something I trust and I believe in the product. So why would I not be a part of it?"

When asked how the pivot towards CBD has changed the company, Sumichrast answered,
"Well, I mean, you know, the growth has been incredible. I mean we've gone from 20 people to 120 people in the last 100 days and you know, our new products coming out, everything that's happening has just been a whirlwind."
