Can Motorola's Moto 360 Smartwatch Withstand The Competition From Apple's iWatch?
Without a doubt, this is the best looking smartwatch on the market today. Of course, tomorrow is another day. The Moto 360 has a great screen and feels great on the wrist. It’s the first smartwatch I wouldn’t be embarrassed to wear in public. It provides me with nearly two days of battery life per charge. And the charger is wireless. BUT.. I have plenty of problems with it. First of all, it doesn’t always turn on the screen when I move my wrist. Sometimes I just want to see what time it is and I’m greeted with a blank screen. There are the constant notifications of messages and emails. The 360 provides some of the data on its screen…and offers to open the full message on my Bluetooth connected smartphone. You can answer incoming voice calls - but you have to conduct the conversation on the phone - not on the watch. The 360 understands a number of voice commands to do things like take notes or set alarms and reminders.. but fulfills those requests on the attached smartphone. There’s an app to measure footsteps and another to measure heartbeats.. and you can ask the watch to get directions…but you still need your smartphone nearby to get things done. I can’t blame Motorola. The watch is beautiful. I do blame Google and the new Android Wear operating system. At the moment it offers little to recommend it past it’s good looks.
