It's earnings season!

We're getting earnings from Microsoft (MSFT - Get Report) and Amazon (AMZN - Get Report) this week.

So, do these two big tech names have the ability to make or break this market?

Kenny Polcari, SlateStone Wealth senior market strategist, talked to TheStreet about big tech earnings and their impact on the market.

"Well, they absolutely have the ability to make or break the market, right? If we start getting negative numbers from the big tech names, you're going to see the NASDAQ start to roll over. But then you're going to see, you know, that kind of flow over into the broader market because NASDAQ names, those high growth names--when the news is good--they tend to react on the upside. When news is bad, they tend to react hard on the downside and then tend to pull the rest of the market with it. So I would suspect if we get that, that people should be prepared. I don't necessarily think that's going to happen. I don't think it's going to be a disaster. If there's some weakness at all, I think the market will absorb it. But like I said to you last week, I fully expect over the next two weeks, the market is going to churn," said Polcari.
