California Fires Turn Tragic, P&G Proxy Vote, Tuesday's Top Stories
A number of major vineyards have burned in Northern California or are threatened, potentially causing a shortage of grapes. California produces about 85% of U.S. wine and Napa and Sonoma Counties produce much of the country's premium wine. The wine country region also sees nearly $2 billion in tourism spending a year. The largest proxy fight in history between Nelson Peltz and Procter and Gamble (PG) comes to a vote today. Peltz wants a seat on the company's board and a say in how it's managed. The supposed is expected to be close. Peltz's fund has a $3.5 billion stake in the consumer product company. The small business optimism index was lower in September. The NFIB survey says there was a general sense of less enthusiasm when compared to August. The number, however, is still historically high.
