Every year, approximately 6.5 million animals enter shelters nationwide. In that number, around 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats. Each year, only half of these animals are adopted.
When it comes to having a furry friend, pet owners are quick to know that it doesn't come cheap. After speaking with an administrative manager from the ASPCA, we learned more about the hidden costs behind owning a pet and the cost-saving measures that adoption allows.
