Andrei Kirilenko of the Brooklyn Nets was on-hand as part of a playground and basketball dedication for the community of Midland Beach, an area of Staten Island, New York devastated by Super Storm Sandy. The event was brought to Staten Island by NBA All-Star 2015, the NBA, the National Basketball Players Association, the Brooklyn Nets, the New York Knicks and the City of New York, including Mayor Bill DeBlasio. Kirilenko tells TheStreet's Jill Malandrino that he is excited to be part of it because as a young kid he dreamed of meeting his sports heroes and now he can give back to a community of children by giving them attention, which is more important than material things. He says even though the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets are rivals on the basketball court, both teams did a great job uniting in the community effort.
