2011Broadcom buys NetLogic Microsystems for a deal of $3.7 billion.

2015Chip maker Avago Technologies announces that it will buy Broadcom for $37 billion.

2016Cypress Semiconductor acquires Broadcom's full portfolio of IoT products for $550 million.

2017Broadcom proposes to purchase Qualcomm for $130 billion, which was rebuffed by Qualcomm's board.

Broadcom, Inc (AVGO - Get Report) reported its earnings after the bell today.

The report is important because it will set the tone for the rest of the industry. TheStreet's Jim Cramer, co-manager of the Action Alerts PLUS portfolio, said on CNBC's "Stop Trading" segment.

"I am watching this quarter more closely than any other quarter during the month of March," Cramer said, reiterating the company's importance.

If investors see good results, it could catapult other stocks in the semiconductor group including Skyworks Solutions (SWKS - Get Report)  , NXP Semiconductor (NXPI - Get Report)  and Qorvo (QRVO - Get Report)
