BP (BP) - Get Report reported a surprise first quarter profit on Tuesday and DuPont (DD) - Get Report raised its outlook amid strength in its agriculture business. Stripping out costs related to the 2010 oil spill and other one-time items, BP posted a profit of $532 million, while analysts had expected a loss of $140 million.
