Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates has pledged to help eradicate Malaria in his lifetime. As part of broader fight against tropical disease the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation will increase the budget for its Malaria program by 30 percent. The move will boost funding to over $200 million per year. The Microsoft co-founder announced the plan at a global health conference on Sunday and said that small steps are not enough to get the job done. He added that the scheme includes the development of a drug or vaccine to help eradicate the malaria parasite in human carriers. The Gates foundation also supports global programs targeting AIDS and Tuberculosis and recently gave $50 million to help fight the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.
