Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft  (MSFT) - Get Microsoft Corporation Report, is well known for his reading habits. He has once said that he often reads about 50 books a year

"Whether you’re looking for a distraction or just spending a lot more time at home, you can’t beat reading a book," said Gates, in his blog.

In the month of May, he often releases a summer reading list, which is deemed as an annual tradition for him.

He has recently recommended the list of books for his followers.

"Most of my conversations and meetings these days are about COVID-19 and how we can stem the tide. But I’m also often asked about what I am reading and watching—either because people want to learn more about pandemics, or because they are looking for a distraction," he said.

"I’m always happy to talk about great books and TV shows (and to hear what other people are doing, since I’m usually in the market for recommendations)," he added.

One of the books that made it to the list is 'The Choice' by Dr. Edith Eva Eager. The book is a memoir of the writer Edith, who survived the Holocaust.

Gates said that his wife Melinda recommended him the book.

"What makes the book exceptional is Edith’s life story: she’s an Auschwitz survivor and a professional therapist. That combination gives her fascinating insight into how people heal," Gates said.

"I think this is an especially important thing to keep in mind right now while everyone has different experiences with the COVID-19 outbreak," he added.
