News of Comcast ( (CMCSA) - Get Report) eyeing to buy ViacomCBS ( (VIACA) - Get Report) or Roku ( (ROKU) - Get Report) dominated headlines on Wednesday, to which the company said "pure speculation."

However, this news brings about the recent trend where media companies are being acquired or merged.

Last month, Amazon ( (AMZN) - Get Report) signed an agreement to acquire MGM Studios for $8.45 billion. The deal was the second-biggest acquisition for Amazon after Whole Foods.

TheStreet's founder, Jim Cramer, called the deal "a brilliant move" for Amazon in CNBC's Squawk Box program. 

Not only Amazon, in the same month, AT&T (T) - Get Report also announced the merger of Warner Media and Discovery Inc.( (DISCA) - Get Report). The $43 billion deal merger brought a new company into existence: Warner Bros. Discovery.
