Big Upset in Michigan Primary, Bull Market Celebrates a Birthday
Michigan voters surprised the rest of the country by picking Bernie Sanders over Hillary Clinton in the Democrat primary. Most polls had shown a Clinton win. She did defeat him soundly in the Mississippi primary. Republican frontrunner Donald Trump won Michigan, Mississippi and Hawaii. Ted Cruz won the Idaho voting. The current stock bull market began March 9, 2009 making this aging bull market celebrating its 7th birthday. A 7 year period of zero interest rates, which ended in December, has led to the belief among investors that stocks were the best place to park cash. Amazon (AMZN) CEO and founder Jeff Bezos says his space company, Blue Origin, will offer human test flights in space as early as next year. The space company is spending billions on the effort. Wholesale inventories for January are reported today. Peace talks on Syria are set to resume in Geneva and mortgage applications are released.
