Best Buy stores were mobbed with people as soon as the doors opened at 5:00pm on Thanksgiving Day. But, the rush didn’t end in an hour, rather it lasted right into the evening hours of Black Friday. Consumers stocked up on doorbuster TV deals and mobile phones from Apple, Samsung, and Google. However, underneath all of the focus by consumers on the typical deals found in the circulars, was demand for some surprising, pricey merchandise. New 4K high-definition televisions, which could cost close to $8,000, flew out the door. So did connected home products from Google’s recent acquisition of Nest.
