Behind the New Martin Shkreli Parody That Played to a Sold-Out Crowd
A parody about former pharma exec Martin Shkreli is taking New York City by storm.
'Martin Shkreli's Game,' the sold-out parody about the former pharmaceutical executive who gained notoriety after hiking drug prices, is taking Manhattan by storm. Playing to a sold-out crowd, the show pokes fun at Shkreli, although there's lots of fiction mixed in with fact. The show's composer and lyricist told TheStreet about how they were inspired to create the musical and how sometimes truth can be stranger than fiction. Shkreli was formally with Turing Pharmaceuticals, where he raised the price of a drug used for AIDS and cancer patients by 5,000 percent. He was arrested for securities fraud late last year, in connection with some investments he made. TheStreet's Rhonda Schaffler has details from Times Square.
