Bed Bath and Beyond posted second quarter earnings of $1.17 a share on revenue of $2.94 billion. Wall Street analysts were looking for $1.14 a share on sales of $2.89 billion. Last year, the retailer earned $1.16 a share on $2.82 billion in revenue. As for details, comparable sales in the fiscal second quarter increased by approximately 3.4%, compared with an increase of approximately 3.7% last year. The company also repurchased approximately $1 billion of its common stock, representing approximately 16.9 million shares. TheStreet's Gregg Greenberg has details from New York.
