Dunkin' Donuts (DNKN) - Get Report is preparing an assault on Starbucks' (SBUX) - Get Report cold-brewed coffee dominance. The donut and coffee chain will launch cold brew coffee nationally in the third quarter, said Dunkin' Donuts CFO Paul Carbone at a recent investor presentation. A Dunkin' Donuts spokeswoman confirmed the launch via email to TheStreet, noting cold brew is now available at participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in the Metro New York and Los Angeles markets. It will be available nationwide later this summer. It's not too hard to understand why Dunkin' Donuts is getting ready to go after Starbucks in the emerging cold brew category. After Starbucks introduced cold brew last year, sales of iced coffees grew 20 percent in the fiscal year ended Sept. 27. According to data from research firm Mintel, U.S. iced coffee consumption has grown by 75 percent in the past decade, and cold brew sales surged 338.9 percent between 2010 and 2015.
