Avis has posted a series of beats, and shares are up more than 30 percent so far this year -- however, if it didn't have Hertz' sell-off weighing on its stock, the New Jersey car rental company might be faring even better. With earnings coming out later this week, Avis will have an opportunity to win back investors that fled the stock over the last two months, shearing some of its gains. After making moves to consolidate its operations, and its capital structure, it remains to be seen what else Avis can to do to appease investors and set itself apart from Hertz, which has had accounting woes.
