Auto Sales This Year Could Surpass Sales Records Set in the Previous Year
Strong auto sales in December could lead to a record for yearly sales in 2016.
Auto sales this year may surpass the record set in 2015. According to Edmunds.com, vehicle sales in December are likely to rise 18% over the previous month. Automakers are on track to sell close to 17.5 million units this year, which would surpass the prior record by less than five thousand vehicles. Edmunds expecs Honda Motor (HMC) - Get Report and Toyota (TM) - Get Report to have a strong month, with sales for each company up more than 19%. Among U.S. automakers, Edmunds expects Ford (F) - Get Report will lead sales with a 19% gain.
