According to The Guardian, an unnamed source from the Parks Victoria staff said that KFC is "widely known to be the most effective bait for luring feral cats." Over a four-month period, the parks staff made several visits to the same KFC location, spending $193.
Feral cats are a big problem in Australia, as they cover almost all of the continent and have already caused the extinction of 20 Australian species.
