AT&T Launches New Bundled Deal for TV and Phone Services
AT&T (T) will launch a new bundle of TV and wireless phone services nationwide from August 10th. Following its takeover of DirecTV at the end of July, AT&T will now offer customers high definition TV with recording options alongside its mobile phone service plans for $200 per month. The company is also offering discounts to lure customers into the bundled deal options. Investors have been impressed by AT&T's move into payTV services, with shares outperforming Verizon (VZ) in the last few months. The new deal will allow users to watch shows across mobile, TV, and desktop platforms and will also give users unlimited calling and texting options on up to 4 phones. Analysts have predicted that this is the first of many new TV, Internet and phone line bundles from AT&T. S&P Capital IQ Senior Analyst Angelo Zino told TheStreet: 'Our view is that the overall completion of the DirecTV acquisition will be a positive on the stock. We have a buy recommendation with a $39 target price and we do expect this deal to be transformative in nature and it's going to unlock, I think, significant opportunities for investors.'
