Apple's (AAPL) latest digital smartwatch is a very, very good smartwatch. But the real question is, is it an essential one? 

Apple debuted its latest smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 4, on Friday, touting its significantly larger screen, faster chip and cool new health features. Unfortunately, those improvements also come with a fairly steep price tag, with the basic version starting now at $399 and the cellular edition, which can operate independently of your phone, going for $499 and up.
