Apple Original TV Shows? This Isn't the Innovative Apple We Know

Apple (AAPL) - Get Report is looking to create original TV content, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal. But that's not the innovative Apple investors are used to, according to Craig Erlam, senior market analyst at Oanda, based in London. He said Apple is trying to boost its services revenue amid softening iPhone sales.

Erlam thinks original TV shows would help if Apple ended up developing its own television, and said the company has the cash and resources to move deeper into the content space.

Netflix (NFLX) - Get Report and Amazon (AMZN) - Get Report already have original programming of their own.
