Apple’s launch event on Thursday proved to be a much scaled down affair from last month's iPhone 6 launch. But, that didn't keep CEO Tim Cook from celebrating the tech giant's impressive lineup of refreshed devices. Cook and Apple executives payed special attention paid to a new, thinner full-sized iPad and a Retina display iMac. The new iPad Air 2 with Retina display is 18 percent thinner than the previous model. Pre-orders for the iPad Air 2 start Friday. Apple also updated its iPad mini though it spent little time discussing the new model. The iPad mini 3, which includes Touch ID, starts at $399 and will be available for pre-order Friday as well. On the software side of things, Apple announced that iOS 8.1 arrives Monday with Apple Pay and Continuity for picking up where you left on on any Apple device. TheStreet's Jennifer Van Grove reports from Cupertino, California.
