Apple (AAPL) - Get Report has attempted to discourage Western Digital (WDC) - Get Report from buying Toshiba's (TOSYY) chip business by threatening to not buy its products in the future, according to a report from Reuters.

The threat comes as Western Digital leads a $17 billion bid for the chip business.

Apple currently uses Toshiba's NAND flash memory chips in its iPhones.

Toshiba is under pressure to reach a deal soon and complete regulatory approvals by the end of the fiscal year in March.
