Another Dramatic Day in Washington D.C. as FBI Hearings Get Underway: Trending Topics
There's sure to be lots of drama in the nation's capitol Monday. The House Intelligence Committee begins public hearings on Russian interference in the 2016 election. FBI Director James Comey will be testifying before lawmakers. Also, the Senate Judiciary Committee begins hearings on the confirmation of Supreme court nominee Neil Gorsuch.
Meanwhile, Disney's (DIS) - Get Report Beauty and the Best blew away box office expectations, raking in $170 million in North America. That is the seventh highest weekend opening ever. However, the news wasn't all cheery for Disney, which agreed to provide $3.8 million in back wages to thousands of hotel and timeshare resort workers.
The NCAA college basketball tournament, otherwise known as March Madness, saw its usual run of upsets over the first weekend. South Carolina upset Duke, a second seed and dark horse favorite to win this year's event, by an 88-81 count. The Gamecocks, who before this year had not won a NCAA tournament game in 44 years, have now won two in a row. Top-seeded Villanova also lost this weekend, 65-62 to Wisconsin, which has a recent history of springing upsets in the tournament.
