Retiring Baby Boomers need to be physically and emotionally fit as well as financially prepared, said Marcy Keckler, Vice President of Financial Advice Strategy for Ameriprise Financial. Keckler said more than three-quarters of recently retired Baby Boomers surveyed said they felt 'in control' of their decision to retire, primarily because they were emotionally prepared and in good physical health. She said the majority of Boomers said that while preparing for retirement they felt completely confident about things like affording basic needs in retirement, their ability to pursue hobbies and keep their minds active. Finally, Keckler said the most difficult aspects of retirement for the retired Boomers surveyed was adapting to a different routine, finding purposeful ways to pass the time and losing connections with colleagues.
