The severe flooding after Hurricane Matthew has forced thousands of people from their homes and prompted emergency workers to ask for help. The American Red Cross has issued an urgent call for blood and platelets, as it was forced to cancel blood drives in four southern states hit with flooding. According to the Red Cross, damage estimates from Matthew could total at least $6 billion. The organization is also seeking financial donations, according to Gail McGovern, the CEO and president of the American Red Cross.  Donations can be made by visiting redcross.org.
