American Airlines Soars into Holidays with US Airways Merger

Earlier this month, the American-US Airways merger had its' one-year anniversary, but the happy couple hasn't even finished moving in yet. The mega-airlines merger that produced the biggest carrier in the United States also produced share price gains of 100% for American, which enjoyed a boost on cheap oil as it worked on synergies with US Airways. Some big challenges -- reservations and miles tracking -- have yet to be resolved but with the job market helping consumers, and cheap fuel helping airlines, American could be in for yet another solid quarter when it next reports results.
