Resurgent chipmaker AMD (AMD - Get Report)  announced some impressive new mid-range and high-end desktop CPUs at the annual Computex show that sent its stock soaring on Tuesday. 

Longtime rival Intel (INTC - Get Report) made some of its own announcements at Computex and the two continue to duke it out in the desktop and notebook CPU markets, with AMD lately gaining a technological edge in parts of these markets. Meanwhile, both are looking to challenge the GPU dominance of Nvidia (NVDA - Get Report) .
